Buying & Selling - New Violins
Prices for full-size violins start at £600, excluding VAT. These instruments are Chinese-made, set up to a high standard in our workshop. They offer extraordinary value for money in terms of workmanship and sound quality. There are other Chinese instruments which we offer ranging from £900 to £1500.
There is a range of German-made violins, again set up in our workshop. The prices start at £1000 rising to £1800. It is now difficult to find worthwhile old instruments under £3000, so it is our decision to offer modern instruments which can have the advantage of being in excellent preservation and of the correct proportions. New instruments also include excellent violins made by Ani Marinova. These vary from £1200-£1800. There are some new Italian violins made for us by a professional workshop based in Cremona.
We have had considerable acclaim for the new violins made by Oreste Zanardo in our workshop. Oreste, Italian-born, was trained in the Cremona School of Violin Making before working in workshops in England, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and Italy. To date, the instruments follow a Guarneri del Gesù design of 1732. Prices vary from £6000-£9000.
